RCFC
Regional-cum-Facilitation Centre, North Eastern Region (RCFC-NER), has been established by National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) at Assam Agricultural University (AAU),Jorhat in Assam as one of seven such Centres in different regions (East, West, North-I, North-II, South, Central and North East) of the country under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. The RCFC-NER has received its funds on 21.02.2019 and functioning of the centre was started during 2019-20. This Centre will act as one stop centre for the growers, cultivators, researchers, traders and other stakeholders of medicinal plants in seven states of NE region namely, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. The centre would function in close co-ordination with State Medicinal Plants Board (SMPB) of these seven NE States, the State implementing agency of the medicinal plants component of the AYUSH Mission. The RCFC-NER is to provide a service window for growers of medicinal plants for supporting conservation, development, marketing, cultivation and provide handholding support to stakeholders in terms of technology dissemination and also for establishing primary processing facilities etc. besides undertaking database of medicinal plants available in the region, identified research relevant to the area concerned, marketing initiative, facilitating development of quality planting materials which ultimately may create opportunities for entrepreneurship development in the region.
